Products - Barium Carbonate Powder

Barium carbonate (BaCO3), also known as witherite, is a chemical compound used in the Caustic Soda manufacture, ceramics and glass manufacture. Barium carbonate is made commercially from barium sulphide either by treatment with sodium carbonate at 60 to °C (soda ash method) or by passing carbon dioxide at 40 to 90 °C.

Typical Properties

Barium Carbonate is white crystalline material, Specific gravity 4.286 GM/cm3, odourless, melting point 8110C, boiling point 14500 C, slightly soluble in water, decomposes in acid and non-flammable.

Storage

Keep in a tightly closed container, stored in a dry, ventilated area.

Applications

In Chloro Alkali Industry for Brine purification viz. removal of sulphate from brine
In the manufacture of other Barium compounds like Barium Chloride, Barium Nitrate, Barium Oxide, etc.
In ceramic industry as a flux.
In glass industry.
In the manufacture of Barium Ferrites.
In the manufacture of Television picture tubes.

Packaging

Usual packing is done in 25 / 50 KG polythene laminated HDPE bags.
